Striper Fishing Virginia Beach with Bob Redfern

Lake Hartwell Striper Fishing

This week Bob heads to the upstate of South Carolina for an early morning striper bite. Lake Hartwell is one of the best kept fishing secrets in the South East, and Bob’s guide Rick Owen will put them right in the mix of some big Hybrids and Stripers. Lake Hartwell is a reservoir bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo, and Seneca Rivers. The lake is created by Hartwell Dam located on the Savannah River seven miles (11 km) below the point at which the Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers join to form the Savannah. Extending 49 miles (79 km) up the Tugaloo and 45 miles (72 km) up the Seneca at normal pool elevation, The lake comprises nearly 56,000 acres (230 km²) of water with a shoreline of 962 miles (1,548 km). The entire Hartwell “Project” contains 76,450 acres (309 km²) of land and water. I-85 bisects Hartwell Lake and makes the area easily accessible to visitors. (source)

Saltwater Fishing – St. Simons Island, Georgia

This week Bob is joined by Captain Richard Latham, a longtime guide in the St. Simons Island area. Bob and Richard will be fishing for reds and sea trout. If you’ve ever wondered about the fishing off the Georgia coast, you won’t want to miss this!

St. Simons Island is one of Georgia‘s renowned Golden Isles (along with Sea Island, Jekyll Island, and privately owned Little St. Simons Island). It is also the largest of the Golden Isles. After being developed by colonists as rice and cotton plantations worked by large populations of African slaves, who developed the unique Gullah culture, the island since the early twentieth century has become a resort community. It has many seasonal residents, as well as a steady base of year-round residents. Source
